Who’s the Greenest (Not About Weed)

How much do people care about being green right now? Almost as much as they care about hand sanitizer. It’s everywhere you look. Even companies that pollute more than anybody are bragging about how green they are. They might as well be rappers talking about diamonds or tweens talking about Twilight. So, why haven’t people turned this into a competition? If American corporations love anything more than turning a profit, it’s telling the world how much better they are than their competition.

So, someone needs to code a simple program that tracks how many pages are printed by all of a particular company’s employees. The requirements couldn’t be more simple:

  • Maintain the privacy of the participating companies
  • Track the statistics daily and present accolades
  • Post stats that put it all in perspective [e.g. X number of trees saved by company A]
  • Build on the original service offering
  • Incorporate advertising and marketing consistent to the competition on the website

What’s the Wait

Most people love to club hop after a good meal. Even if you don’t want to hop, it would be nice to know which clubs have the longest wait so your buzz isn’t blown walking from one place to the next looking for a good time. There are applications for restaurants that allow you to make reservations that show the available times for your party size.

So, why aren’t there applications for making bottle service reservations or that tell you how long the wait is to get into your favorite night spots? It would also be helpful to know if there are any drink specials or if it’s invitation only so you don’t waste precious time going somewhere you’ll be turned away. I think this would make a great app for any phone or a simple site you could check. Club promoters could also use this as a medium to advertise events.
